T1200 Actuarial Information Summary

Notice to the reader:
Form T1200, Actuarial Information Summary, was designed to capture relevant data from actuarial valuation reports submitted for pension plans that contain a defined benefit provision. This form is required when filing an actuarial valuation report pursuant to the Ontario Pension Benefits Act, the Pension Benefit Standards Act, 1985, and since January 1, 2010, the Act to Amend the Supplemental Pension Plans Act and other legislative provisions in order to reduce the effects of the financial crisis on plans covered by the Act.

Form T1200 was recently amended, in collaboration with the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada, and the Régie des rentes du Québec. This form is not prescribed by the Income Tax Act and is therefore not mandatory when submitting documents to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). However, filing the form will facilitate the review of actuarial valuation reports and lead to faster processing of funding approval requests by the CRA. To that end, we encourage administrators of pension plans with a defined benefit provision, and their agents, to file Form T1200 with all funding reports, regardless of the provincial jurisdiction in which their plan is registered.
