RC304
BRO is a fast, easy, and convenient way to register online with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for a:
- Business Number;
- GST/HST account;
- payroll deductions account;
- import/export account; and
- corporation income tax account.
You may also register for certain accounts with the provinces of:
- British Columbia;
- Nova Scotia; and
- Ontario.
Types of registration you cannot do online
While almost all Canadian businesses can use BRO, the service will not offer registrations for the following specific situations:
- you wish to apply for a GST/HST account for a business with a mailing address in Quebec;
- you have a non-resident business and wish to apply for a GST/HST account;
- you wish to apply for a corporation income tax account for a business incorporated:
- federally with Industry Canada;
- provincially in Manitoba;
- provincially in New Brunswick;
- provincially in Nova Scotia; or
- provincially in British Columbia;
- you currently have a Business Number registered in your name and wish to apply for another Business Number in your name for a business that uses the same business structure. For example you:
- have a business operating as a sole proprietor with a Business Number in your name and wish to apply for a Business Number in your name for a separate business operating as a sole proprietor;
- you wish to create a third account within the same program. For example a third GST/HST account; or
- you wish to register a bare trust.
