Direct Deposit for Benefits and Credits

Enrolling for direct deposit and changing current direct deposit information

You can request that your benefit and credit payments be direct deposited in any bank, trust company, credit union or other registered financial institution in Canada.

By Internet

Manage your direct deposit information on-line by using our My Account service.

By mail

Submit your direct deposit information to the same tax centre you sent your income tax and benefit return to, on one of the following:

Note: you can also provide your direct deposit information in the "Direct deposit - Start or change" section of your Income Tax and Benefit Return.

In person

Drop off your completed Form T1-DD (1), Form RC151 or direct deposit request letter directly at a tax services office.

By telephone

To help prevent fraud, the only changes we can make over the telephone are to cancel your direct deposit for any payment, or to arrange for additional payments to be direct deposited into an account for which the CRA already has the information on file. Dial 1-800-959-8281 to contact us.

Note: If you are changing the account into which we deposit a payment, do not close the old account before we deposit the payment into the new one. If your financial institution advises us that you have a new account, we may deposit your payments into the new account. If for any reason we cannot deposit a payment into your account, we will mail you a cheque to the address we have on file.

You can call 1-800-959-8281 if you need help in completing your direct deposit request.
