You should contact the CRA after you apply for the WITB when:

  1. You have changed your address
  2. You have changed your marital status
  3. Any of the following situations apply:
    • You receive your payments by direct deposit and your banking information has changed
    • You or your spouse or common-law partner no longer meet the WITB eligibility requirements

If you move, be sure to let us know. Otherwise, your payments may stop, even if you use direct deposit and your bank account doesn't change. See How to change your address.

2. You have changed your marital status
For marital status changes, complete Form RC65, Marital Status Change, or send us a signed letter to tell us about your new status and the date of the change. Do not notify us of your separation until you have been separated for more than 90 consecutive days.
