Before you file

You can create and save your electronic T1204 information return, validate data, calculate totals for the summary, use the electronic data to print recipient slips, and securely submit encrypted returns by Internet. You will need to download and install the desktop application version 10.0 and the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.6 Update 5 software.

• Get your paperwork and other documentation ready.
• Have your File Your Information Returns Electronically letter at hand. It shows your Account number, and your Web access code.

Computer requirements

If you meet the following computer requirements, you should have no trouble running the desktop application.

• Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (with Service Pack 6a and prior), Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional (with Service Pack 3 and prior), Windows 2000 Professional (with Service Pack 4 and prior) or Windows Vista Business (with Service Pack 2 and prior)
• Pentium 166 MHz or higher
• 64 MB system RAM or higher
• 200 MB of available disk space on your hard drive
• Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.6 Update 5
• 128-bit Web browser
• 28,800-baud modem or faster
