  1. What is an access code?

    An access code is a one-time security key used to identify a specific GST/HST return. You have to enter the access code, along with your Business Number and reporting period dates, to use GST/HST NETFILE. It is a four-digit number printed on the electronic filing instruction sheet (Form GST34-3) or the personalized return (Form GST34-2) that you received in the mail.

  2. Will my access code be the same for each filing period?

    No. Your access code is a one-time security key. You will get a new access code for each filing period.

  3. How can I get an access code?

    If you've misplaced your access code or didn't receive one in the mail, you can get a new code by using GST/HST Access Code Online or calling the e-Services Helpdesk.

  4. Are there any helpful hints on how to use the service?

    Completing your GST/HST return or rebate online is as straightforward as completing a paper form. Here are some things to know:

    • review the checklist of items on the Ready to file page before you begin;
    • enter all amounts in Canadian funds;
    • if you end your filing session before confirming that you want to file your return/rebate, the information you entered will not be saved; and
    • after you successfully submit your information, you will get a confirmation number that you should print and keep with your records.

  5. Can I electronically adjust a return or rebate that I've already filed?

    GST/HST returns and public service bodies' (PSB) rebates can be adjusted electronically using My Business Account (MyBA). If you do not already have a MyBA user ID and password, you can request one at My Business Account.

    Alternatively, you can contact your tax centre, in writing, to request an adjustment to your GST/HST return. To request an adjustment to a GST/HST rebate, contact the Summerside or Sudbury tax centre.
