Through Represent a Client:
1. Register for a CRA user ID and password
- Enter the access code from your Notice of Assessment and your postal code or ZIP code;
- Create your CRA user ID and password.
2. Register yourself as a representative (as independent)
- Enter your name and a RepID will be displayed instantly.
3. Get authorization from your employer (the owner of the business account that will be accessed)
- Give your RepID to your employer;
- Your employer will authorize you as a representative by:
- entering, online through My Business Account, your RepID on their business profile for an instant authorization if the business is registered;
or
- sending an RC59 Business Consent Form (allow time for shipping and processing).
And you can start using the services through Represent a Client.
Through Represent a Client:
1. Register for a CRA user ID and password
- Enter the access code from your Notice of Assessment and your postal code or ZIP code;
- Create your CRA user ID and password
2. Register yourself or your business as a representative
- Enter your name and a RepID will be displayed instantly
(if you are an employee of a tax or payroll service provider, give your RepID to your business administrator to associate your RepID to its Business Number (BN));
or
- Enter your BN if you are a tax or payroll service provider and identify employees who need access by associating their RepID to your business.
3. Get authorization from the business client (the owner of the business account that will be accessed)
- Give your RepID or BN to your business client to authorize you or your business to access their account(s);
- Your business client will:
- enter, online, your RepID or BN on their business profile for an instant authorization through My Business Account if the business is registered;
or
- send an RC59 Business Consent Form (allow time for shipping and processing).
