1. How do I navigate through My Payment?
Note
Opening browser pages such as Help with My Payment or the links within will not affect your Summary details.
The My Payment application is divided into the following six steps:
Step 1. Select the payment you want to include in your transaction.
Step 2. Select the payment allocation.
- You must choose one of the hyperlinks.
- Once selected, My Payment will automatically present the next step.
Step 3. Enter the payment details.
- All fields must be completed correctly before the next step can be presented.
- All field errors will be highlighted and remain on screen until they are corrected.
Step 4. Confirm the transaction details.
- Payments can be modified, removed, or added as required.
- You must confirm the transaction details before going to the next step.
- Validation errors will be shown and remain on screen until they are corrected.
Step 5. Proceed to pay using the Web SecurePay screen.
- Only the transaction total and the unique transaction number are transmitted.
- No transaction payment details are transmitted.
Note
The payment service provider allows up to 15 minutes from the time you leave the CRA site to the time you return to the CRA site to complete your banking transaction.
Payment service provider/financial institution interface
- The payment service provider will securely direct you to your financial institution's online banking facility.
- You will log in to your financial institution's secure site using your existing sign-on credentials and proceed as you normally would for any bill payment using this service.
- Once you authorize the funds transfer, you will be redirected back to your CRA My Payment session.
Note
If you are not redirected back to the CRA for receipting, the payment service provider will present a default receipt page.
Step 6. Confirmation of payment.
- Once you are returned to the My Payment session, and the funds transfer is confirmed, you will receive a screen presentation with the message "Transaction Approved."
- You will also get a detailed receipt that will include both a unique CRA transaction number and the financial institution confirmation number. Please save or print a record for your files.
- If your transaction was not successful, you will be advised accordingly.
- In this case you will be able to try again (Yes button), or start over (No button).
2. How do the navigation buttons work?
Using navigation buttons:
- Exit
- Results in a confirmation of abandonment message.
- Selecting "Yes" terminates the session and redirects you to the My Payment Home page.
- Selecting "No" returns you to the previous page.
- Continue
- Allows you to go to the next step.
- Previous
- Returns you to the previous step. Data entered on this page will not be saved.
- Add another Payment
- Allows you to add another payment to your My Payment Summary.
- Confirm
- Accept the payments entered in the My Payment Summary. Go to Step 5, proceed to Pay Now.
- Pay Now
- Redirects you to CRA's payment service provider to complete the transaction through your financial institution's online banking facility.
- Start a new transaction
- Initiates a new transaction request on your behalf.
- Remove
- Removes the specified payment from the My Payment Summary.
- Modify
- Allows you to change the details of the specified payment.
- Only one payment can be modified at a time.
- Yes confirms the modifications you have made.
- No cancels any modification and returns you to Step 4.
3. What type of remittances can I make using My Payment?
The following payment types and their respective allocations are available remittance options:
Individual income tax
- Payments for any of the following are permitted:
- Balance owing/arrears
- Instalment
- Payment on filing
- Tax-free savings account (TFSA) excess contributions

Child and Family Benefits Payment
- Repayments for any the following benefits are permitted:
- Canada Child and Family Benefits and related provincial/territorial programs
- Goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) credit and related provincial programs
- Universal Child Care Benefit
- Alberta Family Employment Tax Credit
- Ontario Credits

GST/HST
- Payments for any of the following are permitted
- Payment on filing
- Interim
- Amount owing
- Balance due

- Accelerated threshold 1 remittance

Non-Resident Withholding Tax - Part XIII
- Payments for any of the following are permitted:
- Regular
- Assessed arrears/penalty/interest/law costs

4. How do I complete the My Payment detail screen fields (Step 3)?
The information can be found on your CRA statements, notices, or remittance vouchers.
- Social insurance number or account number
- You must enter a complete and valid number.
- Amount
- Consists of two fields: <dollars> and <cents>.
- Dollar field:
- You must enter a number of 0 or greater.
- Cents field:
- The value is defaulted to 00.
- You can enter a number between 00 and 99.
- Decimals or commas are not permitted.
- Period ending/End of period
- When this field is presented, complete it in the format provided.
- Select the date from the drop-down lists provided.
- The date selected must be a valid date combination.
- Gross payroll/Total assessable payroll
- When this field is presented, you must complete it.
- Enter a number between 0 and 999,999,999 (enter only the dollar value, no cents).
- Decimals or commas are not permitted.
- Number of employees in last pay period
- When this field is presented, you must complete it.
- Enter a number between 0 and 999,999.
- Decimals or commas are not permitted.
