1. What is a group identifier (GroupID) and why do I need one?

A GroupID is a unique six-character alphanumeric identifier beginning with the letter 'G' that identifies you as a registered group of representatives with the Represent a Client service. Give your GroupID to your clients, family members, or friends so they can authorize you to access their tax information online.

2. How do I associate representatives to my group?

Before you can associate representatives to your group, they will need to register for an independent RepID through the 'Register as a representative' link on the main menu page of Represent a Client.

Once you have the representatives' RepIDs, log in to the service, select 'Review and update', then select the Group ID then 'Manage representatives access' and then 'Associate representatives', to associate them to the group.

3. What is an administrator and can I name more than one?

In addition to accessing the accounts of clients that have authorized the GroupID, an administrator is able to manage the group, including associating representatives to the group. There can up to 10 group administrators associated to the group

4. How do my clients authorize a group to deal with the CRA for them?

Your individual clients should access My Account and enter the GroupID to authorize a group. Clients can also authorize a representative by completing Form T1013, Authorizing or Cancelling a Representative, and sending it to their tax centre.
