How to request direct deposit

As part of a Government of Canada initiative, the CRA provides direct deposit as a standard payment method. Using direct deposit means:

  • You will get your money faster.
  • You can skip the trip to the bank to deposit your cheque.
  • There’s no risk that your payments will be lost or delayed.
  • Your payments will always be on time.
  • You can start using the money or earning interest right away.

Individuals

Apply online!
If you are registered for My Account, you can enroll for direct deposit immediately.

If you are an individual, choose the appropriate direct deposit request form from the following list. Print the form, fill it out, then mail it or drop it off to any of our tax centres and tax services offices.

*Includes certain related provincial or territorial payments.

Note:
For employment insurance, Canada Pension Plan, and old age security payments, sign up for direct deposit by logging in to My Service Canada Account.

Businesses

If you are a business, choose the appropriate direct deposit request form from the following list. Print the form, fill it out, then mail it or drop it off to any of our tax centres.
