Filing Information Returns Electronically

Internet filing is available starting January 11, 2010. See Hours of service.

If this is your first time using the service, we recommend that you review the links under "Topics about Filing information returns electronically" below.

When you are ready to file your return, select the "Ready to file" button.

What's new

  • If you or your service provider files more than 50 information slips, you must file your return electronically by Internet File Transfer (XML) in eXtensible Mark up Language (XML). For more information on the new mandatory filing requirements, see Mandatory Electronic Filing for Information Returns.
  • We have increased the file size accepted by Internet to 150 MB. If your file is more than 150 MB, you can either compress your return or you can divide it so that each submission is no more than 150 MB.
  • Beginning January 1, 2010, you must use your Business Number instead of your Filer Identification Number to file your T5, T5007, T5008, T5018, RRSP Contribution Receipts and the new TFSA Annual Information Return. For more information, go to Converting the Filer Identification Number to the Business Number.
