Hi, I'm Catherine from the Canada Revenue Agency. I'd like to tell you about the tuition, education, and textbook amounts. If you're a student, you may be able to claim a non-refundable tax credit based on the tuition fees you paid for courses you took in 2008. You may also be able to claim an education tax credit of $400 for each month you were enrolled full time in a qualifying program, or $120 for each month you were enrolled part time.
In addition, you may be able to claim a textbook tax credit of $65 for each month you qualify for the full-time education amount, or $20 for each month that you qualify for the part-time education amount. To learn more about the tuition, education and textbook amounts, go to cra.gc.ca/students.
Excuse me, my phone is ringing. I should take this call. Canada Revenue Agency, my name is Catherine how may I help you?
