Newfoundland and Labrador small business tax holiday

The Province of Newfoundland and Labrador will issue a Small Business Tax Holiday Certificate (NLSBTH) to eligible new businesses that:

  • incorporated between April 1, 2003 and March 31, 2006;
  • operate in designated growth sectors of the economy; and
  • are not associated with another business.

For businesses located on the Northeast Avalon Peninsula, the tax holiday will be provided for the new company's first three fiscal years.

For those located outside the Northeast Avalon Peninsula, the tax holiday will apply for the first five fiscal years.

Claiming the credit

On line 832 of Schedule 5, Tax Calculation Supplementary - Corporations, enter the certificate number and on line 511, enter the amount you are claiming.

Supporting documents - You do not have to file the certificate with the return. However, keep it in case we ask for it later.
