Voluntary disclosure

The Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP) allows you to come forward and correct inaccurate or incomplete information or disclose information on a voluntary basis.

You will not be penalized or prosecuted if you make a full disclosure before we start any enforcement action or investigation against you. You will only have to pay the taxes owing plus interest.

The VDP even accepts information that is less than one year overdue, except when disclosures are being made to avoid late filing charges.

Refer to Income Tax Information Circular IC00-1R2, Voluntary Disclosures Program for the VDP policy. Call the Voluntary Disclosures Program officer in the Enforcement Division of your tax services office to discuss your situation.
