RRSP contribution receipts return

The CRA uses the information gathered from annual information returns in a variety of ways. Each year, we conduct a number of review activities that promote awareness of and compliance with the laws we administer. These reviews are an important part of the activities we undertake to maintain the integrity of, and Canadians' confidence in, the Canadian income tax system.

An issuer of a registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) has to file an information return for RRSP contributions made by the annuitant, or by the spouse or common-law partner of the annuitant under the plan in a contribution year.

Beginning January 1, 2010, filers must use their Business Number instead of their Filer Identification Number. For more information, go to Converting the Filer Identification Number to the Business Number.
