Teaching Taxes program

The Teaching Taxes program introduces high school and post-secondary students to Canada's tax system and teaches them the practical skill of preparing a basic income tax and benefit return. This program has been available to educators since 1970 and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) updates it in December each year.

What's new

The 2009 tax year version of the Teaching Taxes program is now available. The Teacher’s Manual is available in electronic format (PDF) only. The Student Workbook is available in PDF format or paper format, and can be ordered by completing the Order form. This year, we have added a tax scenario for a First Nations resident.
