Filing listings on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM

The Registered Plans Directorate requires all issuers or carriers to file their listings on either CD-ROM or DVD-ROM.

You have two standards for filing your listings; you can either use American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) text or eXtensible Markup Language (XML). The Registered Plans Directorate accepts either format.

General Information

ASCII standard

You must be pre-approved to file your listings using the ASCII format. This is to ensure that you have adhered to the standard record layout and the output is in an acceptable format.

For detailed information on filing using the ASCII format, please see our ASCII Standard Record Layout

XML standard

The XML standard imposes requirements to ensure that the XML document is well formed and valid before you submit the document on the chosen media type. We publish an XML Schema to ensure that records adhere to the standard record layout.

For additional information on filing using the XML format, please see our XML Standard Information

Filing the Listings

To file your listings, follow the directions found on the Form T550 Application for Registration of RSP's, ESP's or RIF's Under Section 146, 146.1 and 146.3 of the Income Tax Act

Corrections to data filed on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM

As the filer, you may need to correct original data submitted to the Directorate on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. You can make any required corrections by resubmitting a new listing with only the necessary corrections on a new CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. Indicate on your covering letter that the data submitted is a correction to a previous submission.
