Public general information seminars

These information seminars provide a general overview of the SR&ED program, covering the following:

• Eligibility criteria
• Qualifying expenditures
• How to prepare and file an SR&ED claim
• Supporting documentation

There seminars are intended for claimants who are new to the program or are planning on filing a claim, and are suitable for an audience of both technical and financial staff. There is no charge to attend.

SR&ED claim workshop

This workshop provides a case study covering the following:

• SR&ED terminology
• Determining expenditures that qualify for the tax credit(s) 
• Documentation to be maintained
• Preparation of forms T661, T2 schedule 31 and the T666 provincial SR&ED form
• Claim review process     

This workshop is not available to external tax practitioners. It is aimed at first-time claimants, including the owners, internal controllers and bookkeepers of small businesses preparing their SR&ED claims. It is highly recommended that those individuals wishing to attend have previously attended a SR&ED general public information seminar and are familiar with the basics of the SR&ED program.
